PDX Equity Innovation Lab

In preparation for the launch of our 25th Anniversary national tour, LJIST is “piloting” a new suite of one-day programs, all of which apply LJIST core principles and theories of change to some of the most compelling social justice and equity issues facing our society today. This is a great opportunity to (re)connect or expand your learning with focused content and application of LJIST’s tools and frameworks.

For a special registration fee of $129 per workshop you will:

  • Experience a full-day learning and development program with our entire LJIST team (see below for details on dates and content)
  • Partake of a nourishing, vegan (plus eggs) breakfast, snacks and lunch from locally- and People of Color-owned, small businesses
  • Participate in a facilitated feedback session from 5:00-5:30 pm after the workshop

If you have participated in a LJIST workshop or keynote in the past, this is a great opportunity to reconnect or expand your learning with focused content and application of LJIST’s tools and frameworks.

If you have been curious to learn more about our work, this is a unique opportunity to experience our approach in a one-day format and at a reduced price!

You may sign up for one session or all four! See below for details.

Shifting Attitudes: Effectively Interrupting Inappropriate and Offensive Comments in Ways that Heal and Transform

Thursday, December 6, 2018: 8:00am-5:30pm

Instead of becoming silent, getting angry or going away, you will learn to effectively interrupt inappropriate, offensive, and oppressive comments, slurs or jokes in ways that heal and transform. You will recognize and practice the difference between simply stopping the behavior and elegantly shifting attitudes while centering everyone’s goodness and humanity.

Just Apology: A Healing Path toward Forgiveness and Social Justice

Monday, December 10, 2018: 8:00am-5:30pm

A just apology creates an opening for transformational healing and forgiveness in the face of dominance and oppression. In this session, you will experience a release of resentments and regret that keep you stuck and identify situations where just apologies can help (re)build trust and forge a path toward reconciliation and justice—on an interpersonal or global scale.

Transformational Alliances: The Role of White People in Ending Racism

Tuesday, December 11, 2018: 8:00am-5:30pm

We have everything we need to eliminate racism within our lifetime. This session is for White people and People of Color interested in healing the root causes of White racism and in building transformational alliances. Too often, People of Color are expected to do the emotional labor as the targets of racism; this session establishes the frameworks for White people to do their work in community and for justice.

Transformational Women: Unleashing Leadership and Reclaiming Power

Wednesday, December 12, 2018: 8:00am-5:30pm

This powerful program advances female leadership using physical challenges and encouragement to take ourselves and our leadership seriously to counteract the impacts of sexism. Unleashing and supporting women’s initiative, you will reconnect with your own power. You will build community with other women leaders on a shared journey to eliminate racism. This program is for women only.

Through their generous partnership, all workshops will be held at Prosper Portland, 222 NW 5th Ave, Portland, OR 97209
